Today we drove from Boston, MA to New York City, NY. We left at about 1 o'clock and arrived at about 5 o'clock. In total this "fun" drive was around 4 hours long. The estimated distance is around 214 miles.
So, by using the equation:
Total Distance/Total Time = Average Speed
You plug in your numbers:
214mi/4h= 53.5 mph
So we went at an average speed of 53.5 mph
